Third Week Assignment:
The assignment this week is "design, make, and document a press-fit construction kit".I spent much time thinking about what i'm going to make, then an idea came up to my mind, making my own game.
i decided to design a game which one person or group can have fun playing it, a customizable maze you go through some sort of shape which represents your fictional character (Ex;Circle), your moves and steps inside the maze depends on the number you get after rolling a dice.you figure your way out before everybody else, you win.
1st step: i used CorelDraw to design my Fab-Maze, my main idea is to design a board with holes and walls can be press-fit in the board, and to make it customizable it should be valid if you assembled it in horizontal or vertical lines, to do that function the hole must look like Plus Sign (+) with the same dimensions in width and height.
Now, it's time for duplicating! :D
2nd step: i decided to build the walls of Fab-Maze using only two main parts, Solid one and the gate. The problems start here :), we have MORN laser-cutter and it's not very accurate and the kerf of laser is kind of wide.i know if you want to make two parts press-fit with each other perfectly, you should design the hole tigher than the pin (Male) about 0.1 mm or the pin bigger with 0.1 mm but it didn't work, i tried until i've reached the perfect formula 0.3.
3rd Step: It's Laser Time! we're using plywood and the MORN is 50W, to get your parts perfectly cut you should put your parameter as below:
Speed: 10
Power: 40
4th Step: Assembly! Customize your Fab-Maze, build your walls with Solid Parts and Gates.
Game Rules:
*You roll a dice every turn and the number of steps you move depends on the number you get (Every grid is a step).
*At ay cross roads if you get even number you turn right of left, if you get odd number you go straight.
*If you're facing a wall and no where to go you should turn and go back to the nearest cross roads.
*The first one reaches the way out wins.
You could customize it in any shape you imagine depending on the number of parts you have.
